LISTEN NOW to Armchair Travel France with Lisa LC
As part of their coping mechanisms for navigating a Vermont winter without snow, Lisa and Lisa resort to armchair travel. This show takes advantage of Lisa LC’s knowledge of France and a few French things. Books Lisa LC recommends include: Almost French by Sarah Turnbull; Paris to the Moon by Adam Gopnick; True Pleasures by Lucinda Holdforth; The Discovery of France by Graham Robb; On Rue Tatain by Susan Loomis; and Instructions for Visitors by Helen Stevenson. We also added a new feature – the Book Baffler. This Bookjam’s Baffler is what book used the opening line “Ships at a distance have every man’s wish on board”? Answer: Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
I love hearing the two of you laugh online! Thanks for the great recs for reading about France. As a lover-of-all-things-French, I knew a few of the books, but not all of them. Armchair travel is also great for the carpool mom who spends way too much time sitting in her car, waiting for one child to finish a nap while the other child is off doing dry-land training because there is no snow on the ground! Actually, that might be a great topic for a future Book Jam…”Books to keep in your car–for the inevitable parking lot wait!” :•)
We are so happy that you joined us in our Armchair Travel Katie! Thanks for the suggestion about the “Books-to-keep-in-your-car-for-the-inevitable-parking-lot-wait. I can already think of a bunch to jamcast about! – Lisa L C
Thank you Katie. We love to laugh (as much as we love the books), and are glad you enjoy hearing us do so. Look to the blog sooon for a show dedicated to anwering your query.
Thanks, Lisa and Lisa. Jeff shared your blog with me and I’ve now subscribed. Looking forward to traveling with you from the other side of town.
